False starts in F1 reaction tests

A false start happens when you act before lights out. It may create a lower-looking time, but it is not a true reaction to the signal.

Why guessing feels tempting

The five-light rhythm teaches your brain to expect the launch. The random delay after all lights are on is the important part of the test: it separates anticipation from reaction.

How to train clean starts

  1. Keep your hand relaxed until every red light is on.
  2. Do not count down after the fifth light; wait for the actual visual change.
  3. Run short sets of three attempts and compare clean results only.
